The Early Church and Peter's Primacy

Letter XLVIII to Juliana Anicia

Synopsis: The same as in the previous letter.

Hormisdas to Juliana Anicia.

Upon receiving the letters of your greatness, we give thanks to our God for the restoration of the Catholic faith, wishing that He may deign to preserve the zeal that He has granted to your spirit for His religion throughout a long life. Just as the vein of imperial blood ennobles your person, so may you shine brightly with the light of a good conscience and meritorious deeds.

Therefore, greeting you with appropriate reverence and honor, we ask that you continue in the resolve you have begun and strive to bring the effort of so great a cause to completion, so that no seed of this evil may remain in the future, from which any enemy of the faith might thereafter revive under any pretext (in the year of our Lord 519).
