Hormisdas to Germanus and (to John) the bishops, Felix and Dioscorus the deacons, and Blando the priest.
The diversity of opinions has long kept us concerned about your welfare and the nature of the actions you have undertaken, especially since we have been unable to learn anything certain from the replies of your beloved selves for such a long time. However, having found the opportunity through the bearer of this letter, we have chosen to convey this message.
Therefore, greeting you in the safety provided by the help of Almighty God, we wish you to know that we are well, which is what we also hope to hear about you. We ask that you inform us in detail about everything that has happened, from which persons and in which places you were kindly received, as we believe, and where or under which celebration of the Lord’s resurrection your charity remained. And let us know what you have done subsequently through all your letters so that you may relieve our concerns regarding your welfare and the success of your actions. And if anything is lacking in the cause you have undertaken, we may be able to provide further guidance with the comfort of our God.
Given on the seventh day before the Calends of May, under the consulship of the most illustrious Eutharicus (in the year of our Lord 519).
